How can we determine right from wrong?

We live in a largely ‘amoral World’, so the Philosophy of Ethics (Morals) becomes important. We will study it with the help of the following famous Philosophers from the past:-

The ancient Greeks:

Socrates c470-399 BC (The Father of Philosophy)

Plato      c427 – 347 BC (Concepts, ideas matter)

Aristotle c384 – 314BC (It is the mean that matters)

Epicurus c341 - 270 BC (It is all about pleasure /happiness)

The 18th Century: Scottish Philosopher, David Hume 1711 – 1776     (going from an is to an ought)

German Philosopher Immanuel Kant 1724 -1804 (it is rules and duties that matter)

English Victorian Philosophers: Jeremy Bentham (1748 -1832) &

John Stuart Mill  ( 1806 – 1873) (the greatest good for the greatest number)

Philosophy is very technical, but all will be explained. You are not expected to come to the sessions, fully understanding all the concepts and information on this paper.
