The Presenters for this our September meeting are

Robert and Jean Sedgley.

Robert and Jean Sedgley have been visiting Sri Lanka since 1998 and have travelled extensively over the island, visiting religious sites, the cities of Colombo and Kandy, known for its ten day festival in commemoration of the Buddha's tooth relic, the World Heritage Site of Galle, ancient cities, the hill country with its extensive tea estates and the northern peninsula of Jaffna. On their first visit they met SH Sarath, one of Sri Lanka's most notable artists, and he helped Robert to arrange his first exhibition of watercolours in Colombo two years later, opened by the British High Commissioner. Since then he has held a further nine exhibitions and in 1918 his book Travels With a Paintbox was launched at the Galle Literary Festival. In the monthly meeting they will take us on a brief illustrated journey around the island revealing the charm and wonder of this small but highly diverse island.

This will be a very interesting talk and one you should not miss.

The doors will open at 10.15am with the Meeting starting at 11.00am.

There will be our usual Coffee and Tea, with all donations going to our charity the
