Hi Tony the following is the information sent to me by Riaz the presenter, which I hope helps to answer your question.
Inspired by the life and teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, the Founder of the Baha’i Faith, millions of people, in some 100,000 localities worldwide have celebrated the 200th anniversary of His birth on October 22, 2017.
The global festivities involving people of thousands of ethnic backgrounds and are demonstrative of a key message of Baha’u’llah: that a special time has arrived for the entire human race as it gradually moves from a stage of collective adolescence to one of maturity and wholeness.
These festivities commemorated Baha’u’llah’s extraordinary life, His teachings and vision for a materially and spiritually prosperous world based on the principle of the oneness of humanity with the film “Light to the world”.
Bahá’u’lláh was born in Tehran in 1817. Two centuries later, the day of His birth is celebrated around the world alongside the birth of the forerunner of His Revelation, the Báb, born in 1819 on the day before the birth of Bahá’u’lláh according to the calendar used in Persia. These Twin Holy Birthdays are celebrated by Bahá’ís and their friends as one annual festival.
