Here at the U3A in Oliva, we follow the Academic year, so this means we have just started a new year with a new committee brimming with fresh ideas.

We now have a travel team headed by a wonderful Dutch lady, named Anja. Last friday saw her first trip of the 'year' when a full coachload of our members visited the monasteries of Simat de Valldigna and Monastery de San Jerónimo de Cotalba in Alfauir. Informative escorted tours were provided at each location and a pleasant Paella lunch was served in the cloister of Saint Jerónimo.

A big well done to Anja and her team though I should point out that she has set a dangerous precedent in providing mid-morning cakes for everyone.

Future trips that are planned or are being planned include a trip to Elche, the City of Palms; a shopping day at La Zenia; a trip to Tabarca Island and a show at the Benidorm Palace.

These are of course in addition to the numerous trips and excursions organised by the special interest groups.

If you would like more information on membership or on the special interest groups please visit our website at www.u3aoliva.wildapricot.org.
